Jo Malone: My favorite scents

November 02, 2016

Whenever I come across a Jo Malone counter I need to have a browse, try out new scents, layer them, sniff the candles... it's a problem. I just love Jo Malone so much, it's my absolute favorite perfume brand of all time. Their scents are so unique and i can immediately tell when someone is wearing Jo Malone. Plus: it's not especially popular in Germany (yet) so you have that wonderful opportunity to not smell like everybody else. I'm going to go through my all time favorite Jo Malone colognes in today's post and I'd also like to know what your favorite Jo Malone scents are because I'm always looking for new finds.

I would say that Pomegranate Noir is one of my alltime favorites and I need to purchase it ASAP. For me it's quite wintery and not as fresh as, for example 'English Pear & Freesia'. It's perfect for fall and winter and I'm all about that.

This is SUCH a unique scent, I can't explain it. I think it's definitely unisex so it has that musky, warm and spicy scent with just the right amount of sweetness. And it's a Cologne intense, so it's more prominent than the regular Cologne. It really is .. a l l u r i n g.

This is a very girly scent, imho. And I love it a lot. Very fruity, sweet (not sickly), yet floral. You can't really go wrong with Peonies. Very safe but valid choice.

This has got to be the perfect every day perfume. It's weird but you can really smell the salt. I never knew salt had a scent, but Jo Malone proved me otherwise. If you want something that is wearable, not too overpowering (like the Oud & Bergamot can be sometimes) and fresh then this one is for you.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the displays they have? So C H I C

My Everyday Makeup Products - Nars, Chanel, Charlotte Tilbury and YSL

Oktober 24, 2016

Hello beautiful people áƒ¦

I've been shopping for beauty products like a mad woman the last couple of weeks or months. While I was really into full coverage, matte skin a while ago, it's all about the glowy, dewy finish for me now. I want that glossy, almost wet looking skin that Korean beauty models seem to have, but my skin is extremly dry (especially after spending two years in North Sweden) which makes it relatively hard to achieve that look. I've been trying and trying and I think I've found a compromise, that leaves me with dewy skin, doesn't emphasize texture and suits pale skin.

This has been a holy grail product for me for a couple of years now, especially for days where I want more coverage. I usually apply this with a beauty blender just to avoid cake face and I go for the colour 'Mont Blanc'. Only downside to this: A little pricy and very hard to get a hold of when you live in Germany. I usually get it whenever I visit a Sephora (either during a trip to the US or France) and just pray that they have my colour in stock because Mont Blanc seems to be very popular. For days when I want less coverage, I will go for the Maybelline Fit me - Dewy & smooth foundation, which is very glowy - too glowy for oily skin for sure.

I have to admit that Youtube made me buy this concealer. Everyone and their mother were talking about this and hyped it up as a life changing magic product. Do I think it's magic? No. But it's pretty good and comparable to the Nars Radiant Creamy concealer.  I usually layer this concealer with Maybelline's Eraser Concealer, or the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.

I used to use compact powders that had colour to them and one lady at a Chanel counter told me that it's really uncessary because my skin is not super oily and I don't need that much coverage. And thank you Chanel lady, best advice ever. I just use this to set my concealer and powder throughout the day just for a touch up. This is nothing special but it does what it says - powder and soak up the oils during the day.

Oh wow. This product is amazing! It's 65€, which is a pretty penny. But i really think it's worth every cent! You get the most amazing contour powder for light to medium skin and the highlight is stunning! Gold champagne goodness! And look at that packaging - so shiny and rose gold... i just can't. I highly recommend this!

This is a cult classic. It's pink, it's red, it's glowy, it's amazing. I'm not the biggest blush addict, but this is about as good as it gets. And I think this colour would flatter any skin tone. Not much more to say about this.

Okay listen ... this is goals! HIGHLIGHT GOALS. I use this every. single. day. Even when I use a different highlighter I layer this on top. This is a super intense, can be seen from space, NASA will arrest you - kind of highlight. So if you want a natural look - don't go for this one. Note: this doesn't have glitters, just a beautiful shimmer. If you love highlighter - GET THIS.

I bought this at Selfridges in London just because I was so excited by the Charlotte Tilbury counter that I wanted to buy everything! And I don't regret it, this is a gorgeous cream eyeshadow that doesn't crease. The colour is a very natural, champagne gold with a beautiful sheen.  I usually slap this all over my lid, put a bronzy brown in my crease, some mascara and I'm done. Highly recommend.
I've included my two new favorite brushes for highlighting. I use the Real Techniques brush when I want a very bold and metallic highlight because it carries a lot of pigment. Whenever I want a more natural highlight or just want to intensify my highlight, I use the Zoeva brush. Good quality, affordable and very soft.

I got this lipstick when I was looking for a new everyday lipstick about 6 months ago. I bought it, put it away, forgot about it and found it again 1 month ago and have been wearing it non-stop. It's matte, but very comfortable, the colour is pretty natural and very flattering. Estee Lauder is such a timeless and classy brand, I really enjoy their products.

I'm collecting these lipsticks and I think they are the best ones on the market. What I like about them is that they feel like lipbalms, have very high pigmentation and leave a stain on your lips which means that the colour lasts for a very long time.  I wish they had more nude tones because most of their colours are pinks or reds. Still would recommend these to everyone out there. And I don't think I've ever seen more luxurious packaging from any other brand.

I got this mascara because it's suited for people with very dry and sensible eyes (I wear contacts). It's pretty nice, but I wish it would separate the lashes a little bit more. But I'm all for shorter lashes if it means that my eyes are not red and itchy after 20 minutes. The MAC eyeliner in an aubergine colour really compliments my green-blue eyes and helps them to stand out.

Do you have any of these products in your everyday makeup bag? Is there anything that I should try out? Let me know! áƒ¦

My go-to Travel Essentials

September 09, 2016

I've done my fair share of traveling in my life thanks to my parents, me saving up my money to travel and my constant travel bug. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I cannot go on a vacation without planning every day. It's not an annoying task I have to do, it's something that I really and truly enjoy. I'm no stranger to notebooks full of addresses, opening hours and very detailed daily plans. I like to be efficient and make the most of every day when traveling. I still need to explore so much, but  I'm really grateful that I have visited so many places at such a young age.

I love a cozy afternoon, a cup of hot coffee, comfy knitwear and my computer. It's so much fun to go through lists of places you need to see in New York, London, Pittsburgh or Boston.

As you might have assumed I am a planner. I plan what I pack, where I go and when I go. So I will often makes to do lists, packing list etc etc. Here are some of my absolute travel essentials that make me feel comfortable when I'm on the road.

Agenda - Duh! Couldn't live without my agenda. I love this one by Kate Spade... actually so sad that the year is going by so fast and I will have to throw it out.

Comfy Sweater - I admire people that travel in dresses and heels... how? I'm more of a loose Sweatshirt kind of girl. This one by Peek & Cloppenburg gives me serious Brandy Melville vibes

Big hat - Cause nobody got time for good hair on a plane ride.

Shades - I'm usually not wearing makeup when traveling so these really help hiding dark circles and non-existing eyebrows. These are amazing and rose gold.. need I say more?

Phone  & Passport - No explanation necessary..it's kind of hard without them.

Passport case - I really love carrying one. This cute one is by &other stories and it's a life saver. It also carries the annoying baggage claim stickers and can be closed securely with a press button.

Camera - Even though I use my phone for many of my pictures nothing really beats a good camera. There is a huge difference especially when you have a bomb lens. This one is the Olympus Pen.

Make Up - I need to carry makeup with me whenever I travel... it's my comfort blanket not gonna lie. Here are some of my absolute essentials:

ღ YSL Lipstick
ღ Naked Skin Concealer (best concealer ever!)
ღ Estee Lauder Color envy Lipstick
ღ Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow (This is my most used item in my collection by far)
ღ Becca Cosmetics Highlighter in Moonston
ღ Nars Blush in Orgasm áƒ¦ Chanel Translucent powder
ღ Nars sheer glow foundation in Mont Blanc
ღ Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerize in Jean
ღ Zoeva fan brush for highlighting
ღ Real Techniques Bold Metal collection brush
ღ Clinique High Impact Mascara
ღ MAC Eyeliner in Strong Willed

What about you? Are you a planner or spontaneous when it comes to traveling? áƒ¦

Current faves ღ

August 23, 2016

Hey  l o v e l i e s.

I decided to introduce a more personal category on my blog. Every month I plan on sharing my favorite beauty item, music, tv series, me time activity and my favorite person. I think blogs these days get way too generic and I don't want to solely focus on beauty. Beauty is something that I really like, but there are so many interesting things going on that it's not fair to only post current beauty products because they only represent a tiny part of our lives.

Beauty item

Man this is really hard to nail down the one thing I really liked this month... but I think the #1 award goes to the  Flash Illuminator by the Estée Edit in the colour Spotlight. It is advertised as a high-impact highlighting cream that illuminates while providing skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid. I either mix this in with my foundation, wear it as a primer or use it as a liquid highlight. Be aware that the consistency is not as liquidy as most illuminators, which means it alters the foundation formula. Nevertheless, this give me the most georgous natural glow especially when applying it with a beauty blender. It comes in five different shades with Spotlight being the lightest. I'm not sure if this is available everywhere, I picked it up at Selfridges in London.

Music

Even though I do enjoy some Bieber, Drake and Britney every once in a while, my music heart does beat for old school Rock, Punk and Grunge. I might be that annoying person that keeps telling you that they don't make music like that anymore but I mean.. they don't. I've really enjoyed Radiohead this month. I think that Creep is one of the best songs of all time and it's always part of every playlist I make. Recently I came across a Cover that Scott Hoying (of Pentatonix) recorded with Caitlin Notey and omg was I blown away. Incredible really. I couldn't recommend this any more.

TV Series

Okay first I have to mention Stranger Things. I have watched it twice within the last two weeks, just because I didn't really get everything the first time and my parents really wanted to watch it again. I think they did an extraordinary job playing into the whole 80s/90s nostalgia, and recreating the feeling that everyone had when watching E.T. or The Goonies. And it's actually one of the few Science Fiction shows the broad mass seems to love so congrats Netflix! Also I have to mention Pretty Little Liars. They've improved so much during this season because the last one was  really pushing everyone over the edge and turning fans into haters. It was getting so bad, but now it's pretty good (still not making any sense and fuck logics but okay).

Me time activity

Among all the job hunting, getting used to living at home again (for now) and accepting that I am completely finished with my studies, I need to relax, wind down and just think about NOTHING. Really hard. Tv series can only do that much, reading a book is nice sometimes but it doesn't stop the thoughts. So I bought a colouring book (yes, i am 12), got some colouring pens and voila! I can't explain how satisfying it is to finish an entire page.  These have become so popular you can basically by them anywhere they sell books or magazines.

Person

My friend James Adams (@itsjamesadams on Instagram, @jamesadamsmusic on Instagram for some tunes). Incredibly talented, Instagram feed goals, up and coming! Follow him, he's always up for a fun time, traveling and photography!

What are your current faves? Did you also enjoy Stranger things and who is your favorite person right now?
